YANKEE is a powerful standout of the 2011 calf crop.  He is stoutly made with a wide top, square hip and a clean design.  He has been a standout since calving and has continued to gain impressively since weaning.  His dam is a a moderate-framed, sound-uddered and feminine daughter of NAVIGATOR who appears likely to become one of the great young females of our cowherd.  His grandmother is sired by the outstanding Angus sire, CA FUTURE DIRECTION, out of our prolific donor dam and most proven high-marbling cow of the Salers breed, MAC BLACK FLORA 6F.  She is also a full sister and flushmate to our Optimizer herdsires MAC F1 RAINSTAR and MAC F1 RAINDANCER.  YANKEE's dam scanned with a ribeye area ratio of 108 and %IMF ratio of 128.  Combining the outstanding carcass traits of his dam with those of TOPEKA makes YANKEE likely to be a carcass trait standout.  His background is reflected in his carcass EPD's as he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for Ribeye Area, Marbling and Carcass Wt.  Retaining 1/2 revenue-sharing semen interest.
